Come for an intensive study of this exciting and iconic island dance! The tahitian ʻōteʻa has many similarities to the popular Polynesian Hula, both traditional Hawaiian dances. The Tahitian dance incorporates sharper movements to faster tempos and heavier drums; where the Hula is a slower, graceful dance traditionally accompanied by chants or songs. Raven’s two-hour workshop will teach you the techniques and traditions of this compelling and isolated style of dance. The hips are the primary focus of Tahitian dancing, and Raven will put the right wiggle in your waist. Two hours of hip isolations, hands-on instruction, and choreography for both a traditional and a modern routine will make this a workshop you won’t want to miss.
